Day care - Barnwood Trust

Day care

Since 1976 Barnwood Trust has provided a dedicated day care service for older people in need of support, including an increasing number of people with dementia.

Up to 50 guests a day are welcomed at Manor Day Home; located at the Trust’s base on Barnwood Road, Gloucester.

Some self-refer and pay for the service, whilst others are referred via Social Services and receive support with funding.

Manor Day Home

Manor Day Home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a culture that champions dignity, privacy and choice.

Following an initial assessment, we work with each guest to plan a relevant programme of activities tailored to their individual needs.

This may include activities to stimulate the mind, such as quizzes and painting, and personal care services such as chiropody and hairdressing – which help to boost health and wellbeing.

There is also plenty of opportunity for social interaction – plus a two-course lunch, served at properly set tables by staff members and volunteers who respect and care for our guests with skill and sensitivity.

There are also occasional talks on relevant subjects such as benefits entitlements and crime prevention, given by visiting professionals.

Transport is arranged for guests who require it, using our own fleet of minibuses driven by Trust staff.

‘It has taken a lot off my mind because I know Mum’s happy; she’s secure. So I can go off and do my thing knowing she’s absolutely fine. ’

Lesley Harris, daughter of one of our guests
