Supporting carers – May 2010

Barnwood Trust is now assisting the Alzheimer’s Society, by hosting their weekly support group for partners of people with dementia in the Gloucester area.

Without a venue, the service faced possible closure, so we were delighted to step in and provide a room to meet in and lunch cooked by our catering manager. We will also be offering support to group members with dementia, so that their carers can continue taking part.

Initially, the group will meet at our Barnwood Road site in the lounge of our sheltered housing, by kind permission of our residents for a three-month trial period to see if the venue works well for all parties.
