Research - Barnwood Trust

Research

The overall aims of the research and evaluation programme are to enable the Trust to assess its impact on individuals, communities, and organisations across the county, and – more widely - explore issues relating to living with an impairment. It is intended that the research evidence, insights and evaluation data generated will allow the Trust to report against its key strategic objectives and, where appropriate, use evidence to influence policy and practice in the county and beyond.

The objectives of the programme for 2015-2017 are:

Assess the impact of the Trust’s core programmes

The research team will design and implement a comprehensive programme of evaluation to enable the Trust to assess the extent to which its investments are having a positive impact on people living with disabilities and mental health challenges in Gloucestershire.

Influence policy and practice which has an impact on people living with impairments

Through the generation of evidence, dissemination of key findings and review of the wider policy and research landscape, the Trust will seek to influence policy and practice in the county across a range of areas such as health and social care, transport, planning and housing.

Contribute original insights to the wider evidence base on living with an impairment

By commissioning carefully selected studies, the Trust will endeavour to contribute original insights to the wider literature on living with an impairment.

Raise awareness about the impact of living with an impairment

The Trust will use its position to raise public awareness about living with an impairment and challenge unhelpful attitudes towards people living with disabilities and mental health problems.
