Strategic Development Manager

What am I responsible for?

I am the Strategic Development Manager for the Forest of Dean. I am available to support organisations in developing community connections and other opportunities for disabled people and people with mental health challenges in the county.

What brings me here?

I trained as a Medical Secretary and worked in Reading and London. I have spent time in Papua New Guinea as a PA  and Visa Officer. I have cycled across the USA  and also retrained in horticulture.  I spent the next 12 years with the Library Service (including Gloucester Prison).  Its my love of people that brought me to Barnwood.

What am I working on?

Time has moved on and we have now established a disability forum in the Forest.  I have been working closely with My Network and will continue to assist in setting up a Community  Mental Health response to findings from our survey conducted over the last six months.

At the moment I am working hard, along with others, to put on a Disability Sports access day in the Forest to offer some speakers/workshops, advice and networking opportunities for local sports groups large and small to meet up, share their knowledge and help create a strong network of accessible sporting and outdoor opportunities for this area.  All welcome.

What do I enjoy spending time doing for my own wellbeing?

I like walking with friends, creative activities; making things from papier mache, gardening and learning to draw.  I love visiting places and galleries, mooching round antique and charity shops and most of all, having fun and great times with my family and friends. (She/her)
