In 2021 the Insights team carried out an Opportunities and Housing survey. This asked about people’s access to a range of opportunities (including education and training, paid work, volunteering, and leisure activities) as well as the quality and accessibility of their housing. Over 250 disabled people and people with mental health challenges living in Gloucestershire took part in the survey. During 2022 we will be disseminating the survey findings more widely in the county.
We are also carrying out research to look in detail at the experiences of particular groups in Gloucestershire. This includes ongoing research with parent carers of disabled children and adults to explore their access to short breaks (respite care).
