Ann Santry takes the role of Chair for Barnwood Trust following 18 successful years as Chief Executive of Sovereign Housing Association.  Ann is an experienced leader and she brings significant expertise in residential property development, strategy, governance and change management.

Speaking about the appointment for the Trust, Chief Executive Sally Byng said: “We are really pleased that Ann has agreed to join the Trust as our new Chair. Ann comes with extensive leadership skills and long experience of the issues the Trust is here to address. These qualities will be an asset to Barnwood as it continues to build a sense of belonging across the county.”

“As we welcome Ann, we also say goodbye to Annabella Scott. The Trust has benefitted from Annabella’s unwavering commitment over the past 3 years. I would personally like to thank her for her support, encouragement and the wisdom she brought to the work.”

Annabella Scott stands down after 3 years as Chair, following a further 10 years as Governor and Trustee.  Annabella said of her departure: “It has been a privilege to Chair the board and to work alongside such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, all of which have helped to make the Trust the outstanding organisation it is today.  Over the years it has also been a delight to witness stories of individuals throughout the county taking up new opportunities and groups coming together around shared interests to strengthen their community.  Long may these positive stories continue.”

Ann Santry, who was elected as the new Chair in July, commented: “I’m thrilled to take this role. I have returned to my home county of Gloucestershire after many years away so I am especially looking forward to contributing to the work of the Trust to make Gloucestershire the most inclusive and welcoming place it can possibly be.”

“What attracted me most about Barnwood was the history, vision and ambition of the organisation. For a charity that is over 200 years old it is refreshing to see that the strategy is innovative and forward thinking, and from my perspective reflects the approach of the Trust’s founders.”
