Get some support to get started

The easiest way to get started is to talk to a few neighbours first to see if others share your dream of building an even more welcoming community.

Once you have done that then give us call and we can arrange for one of our Community Builders to come over and have a chat over a cup of tea. You can call us on 01452 623129.

When we meet up we can explore how we might be able to support you. Here’s a few ideas of the sorts of things we can offer to help you get started.

Host a workshop in your community. We run lots of different workshops on community and inclusion based topics. These can include how to identify people’s gifts, how to have conversations that uncover hidden assets, or how to include those people that sometimes get missed out. These workshops are a great way of bringing people together and starting the conversation. We can hold them in the local community centre, or even in your kitchen or lounge.

You might just want to start talking to more people on your street. We understand if it feels a little daunting talking to neighbours for the first time if you’re not used to it, so if you want some support in approaching people and starting a community conversation let us know. We can give you some hints and tips or even come out with you.

Finally, you might have an idea to create or develop a community space where you live, if you want to talk it through we would love to have a conversation about it with you. It could be a small idea from creating some raised flower beds on the high street through to renovating a community café to make it more welcoming and accessible.
