Cooper’s Edge Handmade Market
The Handmade Market @ Coopers Edge was set up last May to provide a local cooperative group for creative people to participate in a community market. Anne who set up the market with the support from other growers, makers and creators in the local community tells us more.
It was apparent from the membership of the Coopers Edge Arts and Crafts Group that there were many residents who were keen hobbyists and talented crafters, some with disabilities or social disadvantages, who otherwise did not have access to any local platform where they could share and market their creations, as well as interact with like-minded creative people.
The attractive stalls display unique handmade gifts and accessories, homegrown plants, hand crafted home/garden decor, and delicious homemade cupcakes. More importantly, our monthly Handmade Markets address that affordability gap between the professional craft fairs with high stall fees and the pop-up events which we hold in the Community Centre for a modest nominal table fee, so that stallholders can make pocket money to pay for their craftwork materials.
We are a young community, so with families in mind, we recently launched a Make and Create Workshop for hands-on children’s handcrafting alongside our stalls. Our monthly markets have become community-bonding events, bringing residents of all ages and backgrounds together. Whether stallholder or visitor, there is a welcome for everyone at The Handmade Market.

About Small Sparks grants
The Small Sparks fund has been created to help small groups of people throughout Gloucestershire to get together to do something they enjoy and make a difference to where they live.
You might need gardening equipment to grow vegetables together, books or wool to get a club going, or wool and knitting needles for a group you are already a part of.
You can apply for a grant of up to £250 if you can show us that:
- At least one of you wanting to enjoy the activity has a disability or is an older person who would like to make more friends
- There are at least four people involved in total
- Everyone is prepared to contribute their time, energy and talents.
