Have your say on the new SEND proposals

Barnwood Trust is keen to hear from parents, carers and disabled children and young people about their hopes for the Government’s proposed Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) reforms and their potential impact if they become law.

Last month, the Government announced its proposals to reform SEND services in England. These are only plans for now – nothing will change until at least 2029 – and the Government is asking for feedback until 18th May 2026.

We believe it is important that the voices of local parents, carers and young people are heard by the Government as these plans are developed.

Today, we are launching a short survey to ensure as many views from parents, carers, disabled children, and disabled young people are heard as possible. We will submit these experiences to the Government consultation and make representations to local MPs.

Three ways to make your voice heard:

  1. Share your experiences through our short survey. The survey is only two questions: your hopes for the reforms, and the potential impact of the reforms if they become law. This survey is open until 6th May 2026.
  2. Talk to Us. If you would prefer to share your experiences with a member of the Barnwood team, you can call us on 07858 518345
  3. Fill in the official Government consultation. An easy-read version has also been made available
