Completion on the sale of Manor Gardens

The specialist housing provider Stonewater are the new owners of the housing site and will take forward the redevelopment plans.

An event was held on 4th September to celebrate the completion of the transfer of Manor Gardens from Barnwood Trust to Stonewater. At the event Stonewater shared its investment plans for the historic estate. These include delivering 50 new high quality, low carbon homes in an inclusive and integrated housing scheme, specialising in meeting the needs of disabled people and people with mental health conditions, as well as general housing needs.

“Stonewater has an outstanding record of both delivering housing management, working closely with its residents and local communities, and development of new high-quality homes. We were impressed by their proposals for Manor Gardens and getting to this point is the outcome of a very positive and constructive partnership. The Trustees are delighted that going forward our existing residents will have the benefit of a more experienced landlord and our original plans for the new housing will be delivered.“
Ann Santry, Barnwood Trust Chair of the Board

In early 2020, Barnwood Trust obtained planning permission to redevelop Manor Gardens in Barnwood, Gloucester. This was for a scheme of new accessible homes set in landscaped gardens, with shared spaces to encourage a supportive community. However, following a change of strategy the Trust began a search for a suitable housing provider to take ownership. Following a tender process, Stonewater were chosen as the new site owners.
