Together with Barnwood 2023
On Tuesday 21st November 2023 we held our annual ‘Together with Barnwood’ event at Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester. This was the biggest of these sharing events that we have ever held, with over 80 people joining a big team of Barnwood Trustees, staff and Barnwood Circle members.
All aspects of this event were co-designed by a team of Barnwood Circle members and the Barnwood Trust Engagement team. Their task was to create and deliver an accessible and interactive event to share Barnwood’s strategy and work activity in 2023, and to hear ideas, suggestions, and reflections to improve our work into 2024.
Despite holding it at a venue that could accommodate more people than in 2022, it was still over-subscribed. We have put together a short film with highlights from the main presentation delivered by Ann Santry, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and summaries of the four breakout sessions. This should give anyone who wasn’t able to join us on the day, a flavour of the discussions.
We had four interactive breakout sessions on the following topics:
- How Barnwood ‘listens and learns’
- How Barnwood talks about disability
- How Barnwood funds organisations
- How Barnwood makes its investments
We will be sharing a summary of these sessions in subsequent posts.
We wanted to create a welcoming and inclusive event and this was only possible because of how helpful and accommodating the team at Hatherley Manor were. They were so receptive to the suggestions that the co-design group made and as a result have made permanent changes to the accessibility of the venue.
