Get involved in Unlocking Opportunities - Barnwood Trust

Get involved in Unlocking Opportunities

There are a range of options available for getting involved in Barnwood Trust’s new programmes and initiatives, or keeping in touch with developments.

Recruiting now

We are recruiting people to help us deliver the new programmes within Barnwood Trust’s Unlocking Opportunities investment plan, announced in May.

BasicNeeds has been commissioned to deliver the Community Animation Programme, and is now recruiting six people. Click here for details and application packs on the BasicNeeds website.

Barnwood Trust is also recruiting two people to join their team – a Communications Coordinator and a Research Coordinator. Click here for details and application packs.

Closing date for all applications 31 August 2011.

Community animation – autumn meetings

If you or your organisation are interested in finding out more about the Community Animation Programme, there are three opportunities coming up to meet Programme Director Chris Underhill from BasicNeeds. You are warmly invited to come along to one of these meetings to get a feel for what the Programme will involve.

Cluster meeting dates and locations:
Monday 10 October Coleford
Tuesday 11 October Stroud
Wednesday 12 October Northleach

Each meeting will follow the same format, so you are welcome to come to whichever is convenient for you.

So we know how many people to expect for catering and seating arrangements, please click here to download the booking form and return it to Barnwood Trust’s Policy and Partnerships Broker Hannah Williams hannah.williams@barnwoodtrust.org  0789 162 3676

Closing date for applications 9 am, Monday 3 October.

Asset-based Community Development ‘community of practice’

The second community development initiative which Barnwood Trust is stewarding is called Asset-based Community Development (ABCD).

Cormac Russell is facilitating the ABCD initiative in Gloucestershire. Click here for a video in which Cormac talks about ABCD and ‘people powered change’.

The Trust is now developing a ‘community of practice’ of interested people to explore ideas. Two meetings have been held so far to develop thinking about the potential for pursuing this asset-based approach in Gloucestershire.

E-bulletin starting in autumn

Finally, we are going to begin a regular e-bulletin in the autumn to keep interested people in touch with news of the development of the Unlocking Opportunities plan. If you would like to sign up to receive the bulletin, please email Lucy Poulton lucy.poulton@barnwoodtrust.org or Hannah Williams hannah.williams@barnwoodtrust.org.
