Access to Nature

Learning programme 2023

Hosted and facilitated by Barnwood Trust in collaboration with Gloucestershire LNP

Following on from the event at Slimbridge and the development of the work in 2022 we are pleased to announce a new series of learning sessions for 2023.

This learning programme will:

  • Give access to insight and data around barriers to nature and understanding its impact.
  • Support participants to listen and understand what accessing opportunities in nature for those with protected characteristics looks and feels like from experts by experience and specialist organisations
  • Connect participants to organisations and individuals who can share their good practices and relevant support, data and tools to influence and improve organisational processes and practices.

Who is it for?

Blue and green space organisations who are either Gloucestershire-based and provide activities and services within Gloucestershire or national organisations that have specific programmes of work and staff teams serving the needs of Gloucestershire.

We envisage that those signing up for these learning sessions will be those with project and/or people management responsibilities who are in a position to influence through using the learning directly in their organisations and embedding change both organisationally and personally.

What can I expect?

There will be a maximum of 30 attendees.

There will be 6 sessions in 2023:

  • 14th March
  • 25th April
  • 28th June
  • 6th September
  • 24th October
  • 5th December

Dates are subject to change dependent on facilitators and trainers.

There will be a strong commitment required to attend all 6 sessions with a maximum availability of two persons per organisation. If any participants cannot make a session, then please contact Barnwood Trust on the first instance.

What is expected of me?

  • engage and proactively contribute to the learning programme
  • share good practice and support other participants in and out of the sessions
  • take the learning and share it in your organisation to influence change
  • use the learning to influence a shift in attitudes and long-standing practices
  • be individually invested, shaping organisational practice around policy and strategy, leading to barriers being broken down for Disabled people and people with Mental Health conditions
  • to bring to each session what actions have been achieved since the last session to demonstrate ongoing accountability.
  • to give feedback as part of the evaluation of the learning programme

Timings: Events starts at 9.30am – (Registration 9.00am) and finish at 3.30pm.

Catering: Barnwood Trust will arrange food and refreshments throughout the sessions.

Cost for Training: £75 for the set of all 6 sessions. (£15 per session)

(payment confirms place. Spaces are non-transferable and non-refundable).

Applications for this learning programme have now closed.

We have decided to charge a nominal fee of £15 per person for all future learning events. This is because we want to encourage a higher level of attendance at our events, to ensure the best possible experience for those who attend, and to value the contributors and facilitators for their input and expertise.

Payment is required to secure your place and is non-refundable and non-transferable. This subsidised fee will contribute to the cost of running the event.

If this is a barrier to you being able to attend please contact us.
