As part of its ten-year investment plan, the Trust is coordinating a cross-Gloucestershire exploration of how community-based approaches can be further enhanced to create the best possible environment for people with disabilities and mental health challenges to make the most of their lives.
Working with Cormac Russell of Nurture Development and Angela Catley of Community Catalysts the Trust has invited interested public, voluntary and community sector partners to participate in the development of a strategic plan to underpin the development of an asset-based community development programme across the county.
Over the next year, those participating will be supported to capitalise on existing expertise and experience and develop approaches to nurturing more hospitable communities for people with disabilities and mental health challenges. Learning and opportunities from this work will be fed into the Trust’s community animation programme due to begin in autumn 2011.
Updates will be posted on this website as the work develops. For further information or to get involved contact Hannah Williams, Barnwood Trust’s Policy and Partnerships Broker by email hannah.williams@barnwoodtrust.org or call 0789 162 3676.
